In a Friday, May 5, 2023 sermon, Gazan Islamic scholar Sheikh Mahmoud Al-Aklouk warned “collaborators” with Israel that they will be shown no mercy “when we cleanse the West Bank from the occupation and its collaborators, just like we cleansed Gaza.”
He urged Palestinians in the West Bank to take note of others who arrest, harass, and spy on the mujahideen ("fighters"). The sermon was uploaded to Al-Aklouk’s YouTube account, and it has been understood by many to be a threat directed against the Palestinian Authority, which has accused Hamas of inciting West Bank residents to stage a coup against it.
