A surprising development is unfolding inside Gaza: a new armed faction led by former senior Fatah officer Shuki Abu Nasira has openly declared war on Hamas.
Abu Nasira—once imprisoned in Israel and famous for escaping Nafha Prison through a tunnel he dug himself—released a video announcing the formation of his militia and pledging to confront Hamas directly.
Gazan sources report that Abu Nasira’s force is operating out of eastern Khan Yunis, inside the Israeli-controlled “yellow line” zone in the south. Even more striking, additional branches of the “Yasser Abu Shabab” militias are now appearing across the Strip.
Hamas had expected that the ceasefire would allow it to crush these emerging challengers and reassert complete control. Instead, the opposite is happening: the number of anti-Hamas factions is growing, fueled by anger at the group’s catastrophic decision to plunge Gaza into war and its brutal internal repression.
