About three months after the signing of the maritime border agreement with Israel and in Lebanon, people are already disappointed with it. The reasons for this are varied.
First, in Lebanon they believe that they made a mistake by not insisting that the agreement be signed on the condition that the US agrees to flow Egyptian gas through Jordan and Syria, thus alleviating the current electricity crisis.
Second, despite the agreement, foreign companies do not enter the tender for gas exploration in Blocks 8 and 10 also off the southern coast, but not in dispute with Israel as was the case with Block 9.
Before the agreement, in Lebanon it was thought that BIL companies were avoiding this due to the conflict with Israel But now it seems that they are waiting to see how much gas will be discovered by Total in the nearby Block 9.
In addition, at this stage it is not clear when Total's drilling will begin, mainly due to a global shortage of drilling vessels.
