An investigation has revealed that Iranian officers from the IRGC entered Lebanon using authentic Lebanese passports issued under false identities, pointing to a sophisticated forgery network operating within official institutions.
The case came to light after a precise Israeli strike on March 4 targeted five Iranian officers at a Beirut hotel. Four were killed and one wounded. Lebanese authorities later discovered that the officers had checked in using legitimate Lebanese passports under assumed names.
Additional passports and hotel bookings linked to another IRGC group were also found.
Investigators traced the operation to a suspicious company that handled hotel bookings, believed to be a front to bypass security checks. Evidence suggests the passports were issued through manipulated foundational documents such as IDs and local certifications, allowing them to pass through official systems undetected.
