Turkey’s leader accuses Netanyahu of provoking attacks and signals alignment with Tehran.
Erdogan sharply condemned the American-Israeli strikes on Iran, claiming they followed what he described as Netanyahu’s provocations and expressing deep concern over the escalation.
In his remarks, Erdogan portrayed Iran as the aggrieved party and warned that the strikes threaten to destabilize the entire region. Rather than criticizing Tehran’s long record of aggression and sponsorship of armed proxies across the Middle East, the Turkish leader focused his fire on Israel and the United States.
Turkey is a NATO member and officially considered a strategic partner of Washington. Yet Erdogan’s rhetoric places Ankara firmly in opposition to the US-backed effort to counter Iranian military expansion. By publicly condemning the strikes and framing them as reckless escalation, Erdogan effectively provided diplomatic cover to the Iranian regime at a time of mounting international pressure.
