Oded Eilam warns that Ankara is turning into a central base for Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood.
Oded Eilam, former head of the Mossad’s counterterrorism division and a researcher at the Jerusalem Center for Foreign Affairs, warns that Turkey is gradually becoming the main regional base for Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood.
According to Eilam, Israel should not be deterred from covert activity on Turkish soil if operational needs require it.
“It cannot be that they feel at home there and enjoy immunity,” he said, stressing that the only consideration should be operational feasibility. His warning reflects a broader shift: Ankara is no longer hiding its position as a leading force in the regional Islamist camp.
