Dr. Martin Sherman warns that Israel’s failure on the media battlefield now threatens both the Jewish state and Jewish communities worldwide.
Israel has fought enemies in Gaza, Lebanon, Iran, Yemen, Judea and Samaria, Syria and Iraq. But according to Dr. Martin Sherman, head of the Israel Institute for Strategic Studies, another battlefield may ultimately prove even more dangerous: the international media front.
Unlike Israel’s physical enemies, this campaign does not primarily attack the country’s borders or military forces. It attacks the legitimacy of Jewish sovereignty itself, portraying Israel’s existence as immoral and turning global opinion against the Jewish state.
Sherman argued that Israel has neglected this threat for decades, relying too heavily on the assumption that American bipartisan support would remain permanent. That complacency allowed Israel’s enemies to dominate universities, newsrooms, activist movements and social media platforms.
