Sheikh Hassan, a prominent Shiite religious-political figure opposing Hezbollah, calls for reform in Islam. He delivers a rare and forceful public criticism of Hezbollah’s culture of weapons, violence, and killing “in the name of Allah.”
IDIT BAR -- Sheikh Hassan (الشيخ حسن), one of Lebanon’s boldest Shiite voices resisting Hezbollah’s dominance, sharply criticized what he described as a destructive culture of armed militancy and religiously justified violence.
In a candid interview with Lebanese political talk-show host Fadi Chahwan (فادي شهوان), he condemned the normalization of weapons in Shiite society and rejected the idea that Islam mandates killing “for Allah.”
Sheikh Hassan said the Muslim world needs deep religious reform, arguing that modern interpretations must break away from extremism, political manipulation of faith, and the glorification of armed groups.
