Israeli Ambassador Yehiel Leiter who represented Israel in the first direct talks between Israel and Lebanon, said that Israel views the outcome of the conflict as a “decisive victory over Hezbollah”
Leiter emphasized what he described as a shared interest between Israel and Lebanon in eliminating the terrorist group’s influence.
Leiter stated that Lebanese counterparts expressed a strong desire to disarm Hezbollah, adding that discussions also focused on a long-term vision for stability and prosperity. He even pointed to a future scenario in which civilians could freely cross the border for tourism, describing beaches shared by both countries. At the same time, Leiter sharply rejected French involvement in negotiations, saying France is “not needed” and “not a positive influence.” On a potential ceasefire, he stressed that Israel’s only consideration remains the security of its citizens, and that any necessary action will be taken to ensure it.
