The commander of US Central Command, Brad Cooper, has publicly called on the Syrian army to immediately stop all offensive military activity along the corridor between Aleppo and Tabqa, amid rapidly changing conditions on the ground.
Despite the call, Syrian forces continue to advance in the region. Over the past hour, the army has taken control of several key locations in Raqqa: the city of Al-Mansoura, the Al-Hajana camp near Tabqa, the village of Rajm Al-Ghazal, and the city of Al-Anam Al-Ali, further consolidating their presence west of Raqqa city.
NEWSRAEL: WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT
The Aleppo–Tabqa axis is strategically vital, linking northern Syria with the Euphrates basin. Continued Syrian advances despite a direct US military appeal raise the risk of friction between regional and international forces operating in Syria, potentially reshaping control lines and escalation dynamics in a highly sensitive area.
