Police Spokesman on attack in Kfar Qassem: Islamic security force is like a civilian guard

Dozens of Al-Khirasa forces, attacked two Israeli policemen during an arrest operation in the Kfar Qassem last Thursday.

Police spokesman Eli Levy said this morning (Sunday) that Al-Khirasa, Kfar Qassem's internal security forces belonging to the Islamic Movement, operate "very similarly" to the Civil Guard volunteers - but under the local authority instead of the police, he said in an interview with 103FM.

"They are guys who have taken care of internal security over the years. The police know about the presence of this group. It is a body that works there together with the municipality," he explained.

The police have so far arrested four suspects, two of whom were arrested on the night of the attack and were identified by witnesses. Today they will be transferred to Court in Petah Tikva for a further extension of their detention. The other two were arrested yesterday and have already been released at the station after police realized they had nothing to do with the violent incident.

During the attack, one policeman was injured in the face, taken to the hospital, and released and the other policeman was lightly injured.
