Barter deal: Russian Sukhoi 35 jets in exchange for Iranian ballistic missiles

The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) said that Iran may soon reach an agreement on the transfer of ballistic missiles to the Russian military.

Security Council resolution 2231, which prohibits Iran from supplying ballistic missiles to other countries, expires on October 18.

Russia aims to obtain the Iranian Fatah-110 and Zulfikar ballistic missiles, which have a range of 300 kilometers or more.

Biden administration officials are considering covert and overt actions to deter Iran from giving Russia certain high-performance weapons.

Russia is now pursuing cost-effective land-based ballistic missiles with a range of 800-1,000 km, which Russia has not developed itself due to previous INF Treaty limitations (its Iskander SRBM has a maximum range of only 600 km) and all other land-based ballistic missiles it has are very long-range intercontinental ballistic missiles.
