Venezuela’s president offered rare praise for the Israeli rescue team that arrived in the country to assist in the aftermath of the disaster, describing the delegation as highly professional, skilled and essential to the recovery effort.
She said the Israeli team came following a connection made through the Jewish community in Venezuela, and thanked Rabbi Cohen for helping coordinate the link with the Israeli government at a critical moment.
According to her remarks, the Israeli experts have already begun implementing protocols for assessing damaged infrastructure and preparing the recovery process. Most importantly, she said, the team has the ability to determine whether there may still be living people trapped in a specific area, or whether bodies must be recovered, before any wider infrastructure rehabilitation can begin.
She added that the team has already held meetings with Venezuelan authorities, calling them highly trained and professional, and expressed hope that cooperation will continue as Venezuela moves forward with the next stage of the response.
