While Israel mourns every fallen man, woman, and child by name, many in the Arab world raise children for death, not life.
In Israel, every individual matters. Each loss is counted, remembered, and honored. This is a sharp contrast to most Middle Eastern societies, with the notable exceptions of Lebanon’s Christian community and military circles, where individual lives also carry deep significance.
Tomorrow, Israel will commemorate its fallen heroes—both soldiers of the IDF and civilian victims of terrorism.
According to the Israeli Ministry of Defense, from the founding of the State in 1948 through April 2025, 24,981 IDF soldiers have fallen. An additional 317 were killed in 2024 alone, the majority during Operation Iron Sword, launched after the brutal Hamas attack on October 7, 2023—a conflict that continues today.
In total, 716 Israelis have been killed in this war, including 642 IDF soldiers, 39 emergency team members, 68 police officers, and 6 Shin Bet agents.
Since 1948, 4,070 Israeli civilians have been murdered by hostile attacks, including 740 children (defined as under 18 years old, according to UN standards).
Today, Israel counts 8,674 bereaved parents, 5,391 widows, 10,302 orphans, and 34,250 grieving siblings—approximately 58,617 family members whose lives are forever marked by loss.
Israel respects and supports its citizens—cherishing every life and remembering every sacrifice.
NEWSRAEL: Unlike Israel, Arabs inflate casualty numbers for propaganda, producing unverifiable "victim" lists to deceive a gullible world. Israel, by contrast, honors its fallen with dignity, truth, and unwavering respect.
