An investigation by the Swedish newspaper Expressen has revealed that several Left Party candidates in upcoming local elections praised Hamas and participated in celebrations following the October 7 massacre in Israel.
According to the report, the Palestinian Women’s Association in Helsingborg organized an event on the day of the Hamas attack that was described as a “wedding.” Sweets were distributed, children were dressed in military uniforms, and participants reportedly voiced support for Hamas and suicide bombings.
Several candidates were identified in the investigation. Helsingborg city council candidate Nidal Hajo allegedly posted messages welcoming the rocket barrages and “military operations” on the morning of October 7. Another candidate, Tamam Hashan, was reportedly present at celebrations in the city square, where chants praising “martyrs” were heard. She later refused to say whether Hamas is a terrorist organization.
A third candidate, Suha Alahmas, reportedly shared a photograph of an armed Hamas terrorist whom she identified as her cousin and expressed sorrow over his death.
