After scoring a goal for Real Valladolid in Spain on Sunday, Israeli footballer Shon Weissman made a gesture in honor of the 45 Meron disaster victims -- marking the numbers 4 and 5 with his fingers and pointing to the sky.
His goal was later disallowed for offside with VAR intervening.
Prior to the Sabbath, Weissman shared posts on social media to commemorate the victims.
Last week, dozens in Israel were killed during the annual celebration at Mount Meron for the Jewish holiday of Lag Ba’Omer. In an incident that is still being investigated, the densely crowded event resulted in people crushing into one another in a narrow exit, which ended in tragedy.
