Syrian media report that Israeli artillery struck Tel Ahmar al-Sharqi, amid claims of expanded IDF control and ongoing fire against nearby Syrian army positions.
Syrian reports say the Israel Defense Forces on Wednesday carried out artillery strikes on Tel Ahmar al-Sharqi in the southern rural area of Quneitra, describing it as the highest and most strategic hill in the Syrian Golan.
A correspondent for Syria TV in Quneitra claimed that IDF units stationed in the Golan fired three artillery shells at the hill. According to the report, the shelling followed an earlier strike the same day on the Tsilson company area in western rural Daraa.
Tel Ahmar al-Sharqi is adjacent to the Tel Ahmar al-Gharbi base, where IDF forces have reportedly been deployed for several months. Syrian sources link the Israeli presence there to developments following the collapse of the Assad regime on December 8, 2024.
