A series of explosions and loud blasts were reported in several locations across Iran. Iranian authorities and state media insist the incidents are unrelated and deny that any attacks took place.
Reports included a powerful explosion in a residential building in the port city of Bandar Abbas in southern Iran, a deadly gas explosion in Ahvaz in the southwest, and loud blasts heard in western Iran near the border with Iraq. Officials claimed the sounds in the west were caused by military drills and controlled destruction of mines and ammunition inside Iraqi territory.
BANDAR ABBAS
According to Iranian news sites, the explosion occurred around midday in a residential tower called “Baharستان” on Moallem Boulevard. Provincial crisis management officials said the second and third floors were heavily damaged, with additional damage to nearby apartments. One person was killed and 14 others wounded. The cause remains under investigation, and the victim’s identity has not yet been released.
