In a major escalation on the Lebanon front, the IDF has issued an evacuation notice to all residents of the southern Lebanese city of Tyre, instructing civilians to move north due to expected military action against Hezbollah infrastructure in the area. The warning is part of a broader evacuation order covering large sections of southern Lebanon, including major population centers.
This appears to be one of the broadest evacuation orders issued in southern Lebanon in the current campaign. However, it is not the first such warning involving Tyre: reports show the IDF had already issued an earlier notice covering Tyre and nearby areas on March 12, with a renewed warning issued today, March 17, 2026.
In the order, IDF's Spokesman in Arabic, Avichay Adraee, wrote:
“Hezbollah’s terrorist activities are forcing the Israel Defense Forces to act forcefully against it in the area, and it does not intend to harm you,” stated Col. Avichay Adraee of the Arab Media Branch in the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit. “We once again urge you to evacuate.”
