Lebanon has filed a formal complaint against Iran at the United Nations Security Council — the first known case of Beirut officially taking such a step against Tehran on the international stage.
According to reports from MTV Lebanon, the complaint accuses Iran of violating the Vienna Convention, interfering in Lebanese sovereign decision-making, and involving the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in unlawful activities that contributed to widespread destruction inside Lebanon.
The complaint is tied to the controversy surrounding the March 2026 killing of Iranian (IRGC) personnel in Beirut. Lebanon reportedly challenged Iran’s version of events, arguing that some of the individuals Tehran described as diplomats were not officially registered as diplomatic personnel with Lebanese authorities.
The filing also reportedly accuses Iran of ignoring Lebanese government decisions regarding the Iranian ambassador and continuing to interfere in Lebanon’s internal affairs despite official objections from Beirut.
