The Russian armed forces will receive additional TOR-M2 surface-to-air tactical missile systems as part of a new deal between the Ministry of Defense and the "Kopol Izbsk" electromechanical construction plant.
Russia has lost two-thirds of its modern air defense systems since invading Ukraine.
Details of the new contract were not disclosed.
The open-source intelligence site Oryx, which relies solely on hits confirmed by photos or video, reported that Russian forces lost 29 TOR-series surface-to-air missile (SAM) systems, including the rare TOR-M2DT variant.
The TOR is one of the few short-range SAMs produced by Russia and is highly effective against cruise missiles and precision-guided munitions. Most TOR systems are based on the GM-355 chassis which allows it to move at the pace of tanks and other armored vehicles in any terrain.
This system entered service with the Russian military in 2008.
