Today, Saturday, July 29, a member of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards militia was killed and others were injured in an armed attack in Deir E-Zor district, in eastern Syria.

The Syrian news website Al-Khabour stated that unknown persons attacked with an RPG missile a military vehicle of the Revolutionary Guards militia in the Al-Kuriya desert, east of Deir ez-Zor.

He added that the attack caused the death of one soldier and the wounding of three others, after which the militias sent reinforcements to the same place.

The Syrian regime forces control the west bank of the Euphrates River, which is the most prominent area of influence for Iran and its loyal militias in Syria, and according to estimates there are about 15,000 fighters from the Iraqi, Afghan and Pakistani militias loyal to Iran in Deir ez-Zor, especially in the area between the two cities of Al-Bukmal On the border with Iraq and Deir ez-Zor, via Almiadin.

It is worth noting that the Iranian militias must gain full control of the Deir ez-Zor district, which they attach great importance to, especially the district cities of al-Bukmal and al-Mayadeen due to their proximity to the Iraqi border and the crossings, which are used by the Iranian militias to transport weapons and drugs.

Iran supervises a number of militias deployed in Deir ez-Zor and the Syrian desert, whose fighters belong to Lebanese, Iraqi, Afghan and Pakistani nationalities, in addition to this, it has begun to recruit local elements from the residents of the area through the lure of money.
