230,000 Lebanese emigrated from their country within 4 months

The director of the Labora organization, which gathers information on the problem of poverty and unemployment in Lebanon, announced today (Monday) that 230,000 Lebanese citizens emigrated from Lebanon during the first four months of the year.

The director of the parent company, Tony Hadera, added in an interview with "Voice of Lebanon" radio that the main reason for the emigration of the Lebanese people from their country is "ethnicity."

He noted that 90% of Lebanese holding foreign citizenship left Lebanon last September, with the aim of "emigrating outside the country," and explained that they would not return, and that 60% of them were Christians.

According to the Turkish news agency Anadolu, researchers have warned of the consequences of economic and political instability in Lebanon on the waves of youth migration, which could threaten the country's economic and social future, which numbers about 4 million citizens and another 16 million live outside it.

Last Thursday there were armed clashes in the Tayuna area, located between the Shia-controlled Chia area and a Christian-majority area in Ein al-Romana in Badru, which lasted about 5 hours and left 7 dead and 32 wounded, some in critical condition.

The United Nations announced last September that this year some 74% of Lebanon's population is suffering from poverty, noting that there are no official statistics on the percentage of immigration from Lebanon.
