A Lebanese national with close ties to senior Hezbollah terrorists was reportedly arrested at Beirut International Airport while attempting to leave for Iraq.
The suspect, identified as Fouad Khalifa, is accused by Lebanese authorities of spying for Israel and providing precise intelligence on the locations and movements of senior Hezbollah commanders. The information allegedly contributed to the elimination of at least four senior terrorists in 2024, including Fuad Shukr and Ibrahim Aqil.
The arrest comes amid a wider Lebanese crackdown on suspected Israeli intelligence networks. More than 30 people have reportedly been detained for providing coordinates, photographs and information about Hezbollah facilities and personnel in Beirut, southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley.
The investigation highlights Israel’s reported ability to recruit sources deep inside Hezbollah-controlled areas, exploiting the terror organization’s internal vulnerabilities despite its extensive security apparatus. Israel has not commented on the allegations.
