Syria faces threats from drug trafficking, Hezbollah and Israel. The New Islamic State in Syria has asked Turkey for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and electronic warfare systems to secure its borders.
The newspaper “Türkiye” reported, citing unnamed sources, that Turkey plans to establish two military bases in Syria, with the possibility of deploying F-16 fighter jets in the near future.
The newspaper explained that a joint defense agreement between Turkey and Syria may be signed soon, according to Arab sources, Ankara will commit to providing support to Damascus in the event of any sudden threat.
According to the expected agreement, Turkish forces will train the Syrian army and its pilots, in addition to establishing two military bases and deploying 50 F-16 aircraft until the Syrian Air Force is fully formed to ensure that the country is protected from any attacks.
