Yaakov Agam, internationally acclaimed pioneer of kinetic art, dies at 98

Internationally acclaimed Israeli artist Yaakov Agam, a pioneering figure in kinetic and optical art whose works transformed the relationship between viewer and artwork, died on Sunday at the age of 98.
Agam was widely regarded as one of Israel’s most internationally recognized artists. His work, which emphasized light, color and shifting perspectives, helped redefine modern visual art by making change itself a central artistic principle.
President Isaac Herzog paid tribute to Agam, calling him “one of Israel’s greatest artists and one of the most respected and recognized Israeli creators in the world.”
