Canadian-based Australian Shiite scholar Imam Mohammad Tawhidi delivered a forceful warning during the Parliamentary Forum on Peace and Security in Ottawa on November 20, 2025.
He declared that “there is no threat greater to national security today than the Muslim Brotherhood,” describing the organization as deeply entrenched in networks that are able to “infiltrate, manipulate, and mobilize” within Western societies.
Tawhidi said the Muslim Brotherhood is the “ideological mother of nearly every Islamist terrorist group operating today,” stressing that its influence forms the backbone of extremist movements worldwide. He argued that the group has hijacked the very words “Muslim” and “brother” while contributing nothing but bin Laden, September 11, and October 7.
He emphasized that Canada cannot remain silent about this growing threat, adding that the hesitation to confront the Brotherhood’s expanding influence is so severe that it “keeps me up at night.” Tawhidi urged policymakers to acknowledge the scope of the danger and to act decisively to protect national security.
