The Republican candidate for the US presidency, Donald Trump, met today at his mansion with the leaders of Qatar and showered them with praise.
This is Trump's full statement after the meeting: "It was great to see the members of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar and His Highness the Sheikh Mohammed bin Abd-Rahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister of Qatar at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida.
The Emir has proven himself to be a great and strong leader of his country, advancing at all levels at record speed. He is also someone who very much wants peace in the Middle East and the whole world. We had a great relationship during my years in the White House, and it will be even stronger this time!"
In the previous term, right after Trump's visit to Saudi Arabia, the kingdom along with other Arab countries announced a boycott of Qatar due to what was alleged to be "support for terrorism".
