The United States is positioning additional forces and military aircraft across the Middle East as President Donald Trump considers whether to dramatically expand the war against Iran.

An American official said the buildup is a preparatory measure ahead of Trump’s final decision. Should the president authorize a renewed large-scale operation, the strikes are expected to be far more extensive and intense than those currently being conducted.

Israel would also likely participate in any major escalation, according to the report.
