Speaking at Mount Rushmore, President Donald Trump declared that communist ideology is incompatible with American patriotism and freedom.
President Trump used his Independence Day address to warn that communism is once again threatening the American way of life, decades after the United States defeated the Soviet Union in the Cold War.
Standing beneath the faces of four American presidents on the eve of the nation’s 250th birthday, Trump said communism was not merely another political position or a disagreement over taxes and regulations.
“Communism is a mortal threat to American liberty,” Trump declared. “You can be loyal to Karl Marx or you can be loyal to America. You can be a communist or you can be a patriot. You cannot be both.”
