Netanyahu confidant Ron Dermer believes the chances of Israel signing peace agreements with Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, and even Syria have now increased.
Ironically, it’s the Arab world’s entry into the foray, which was meant to counter “Greater Israel”—this illusion that Israel would occupy territory that lit up after the strike in Qatar—that has enabled this to be put on the table.
In private conversations, Dermer has been saying that he believes there could be an acceleration of the normalization process with these three key Muslim nations.
Surprisingly, when it comes to Syria, he’s not merely referring to a security deal, like what’s been discussed until now, but a step even further than that, which of course raises questions. Israel, for one, won’t give up the Golan Heights. So what about an Israeli presence beyond the state’s borders? What about the Druze minority?
