IDF fighters from the Samaria Brigade, in collaboration with Yahalom unit fighters, operated last night in the city of Nablus to demolish the home of the terrorist Ja’far Muna, who carried out a suicide attack in Tel Aviv using an unusual explosive device.
The terrorist acted as part of a terror cell from Nablus, which was operated and directed by Hamas elements abroad. On the day of the attack, the terrorist arrived in Tel Aviv with an explosive belt, intending to carry out a suicide attack near a synagogue in the city. During the incident, it is likely that the explosive detonated unintentionally, and no lives were lost except for the terrorist himself.
The security establishment, with the support of legal authorities, decided to demolish the terrorist’s home as part of a deterrence policy, according to which anyone who carries out an unusual terror attack, even if no one is killed, will have their home demolished.
The IDF and Shin Bet will continue to operate to thwart terrorism in Judea and Samaria, to deter future terrorists, and to bring justice to terrorists who acted to harm civilians or security forces.
