EDITORIAL: The hidden price the US and Israel are paying
It may be true that the US military can withdraw from the Middle East and return a year later if necessary. It may also be true that Israel can repeatedly call up reservists and ask them to serve hundreds of days.
But neither country can assume that the next generation of soldiers will always answer the call.
One day, they may ask a devastating question: We already fought from 2023 to 2026. We sacrificed years of our lives, lost friends, left our families and interrupted our careers — yet the threats were not decisively removed. Why should we do it all again?
This danger is especially serious for Israel.
