US intelligence intercepted conversations between senior Iranian officials in which they expressed positions that differed sharply from those conveyed to Washington through official channels, according to a report by Axios.
The intercepted discussions have intensified concerns that Tehran is once again conducting a deliberate campaign of deception while negotiating over its nuclear program.
CIA Director John Ratcliffe reportedly briefed President Donald Trump and other senior officials that the American intelligence assessment is that Iran does not intend to honor its nuclear commitments, even if a final agreement is signed.
For years, Israel has supplied Washington with intelligence showing that the Iranian regime lies, conceals sensitive activity and systematically misleads the international community.
