Progress is being made in negotiations between Israel and Syria toward a potential security agreement, according to Saudi-owned Independent Arabia.
Syrian Foreign Minister Assad al-Shaibani is expected to meet today in London with Israel’s Minister for Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer, in the presence of U.S. envoy to Syria Tom Barrack.
The talks come just days before the UN General Assembly in New York, where Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa is scheduled to participate for the first time.
Diplomats said the sides have already agreed on over 95% of the terms, with hopes of signing the deal on September 25 at the UN or possibly on September 29 at the White House, with U.S. President Trump hosting al-Sharaa and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu.
