The Knesset plenary today (Wednesday) approved MK Ariel Kellner's motion to order regarding the need to establish a parliamentary investigative committee to investigate the thwarting of Gal Hirsh's candidacy for Commissioner.
In the explanation of the proposal it is written: "The investigation case against the candidate for the Gal Hirsh Commissionerate, which began in August 2015 and which thwarted his candidacy, raises the suspicion of one of the most serious cases of corruption in the history of the country."
It is also written that "out of all the noise, after years of legal torture, in October 2021 a relatively minor indictment was filed on tax issues.
The fear is that it is an indictment designed to retrospectively justify the thwarting of his appointment as commissioner." In February 2018, the claim of the former intelligence chief was published In the Israel Police, TNA Guy Nir, that Hirsch's appointment as commissioner was thwarted by senior police officers "in a manner bordering on criminal".
