Who do you trust in the middle of a war: a democratic government and its military, or an authoritarian regime that has spent decades perfecting propaganda?
That question has now become central to how the current conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States is being reported and interpreted around the world.
A surprising number of voices that oppose the United States—including large segments of the American media—appear ready to accept the Iranian regime’s version of events regarding the war. Iranian statements and claims are frequently repeated as if they carry the same credibility as reports issued by the US military.
When the war ends, when the Iranian regime eventually falls, and when the full truth becomes available in black and white, those choices will have to be explained.
