The Israel Police arrested a resident of Kiryat Gat (in the upper Negev north of Be’er Sheva) suspected of stealing weapons from the IDF (Israel Defense Forces).
The suspects is alleged to have taken advantage of his work in the southern region of the country with a private company that works with the military to steal ammunition and equipment with lethal capabilities from IDF combat units and is suspected of intending to sell them.
During the undercover investigation, the police were able to trace the identity of the suspect (28) and the location where he allegedly hid the weapons near his parents’ home in the city of Kiryat Gat.
The police said that the arrest came as part of a “fight against the illegal trade in the means of warfare that had been collected in the various combat centers since the first days of the fighting,” enacted by the commander of the Southern District, Superintendent Amir Cohen, after the start of the Iron Swords War.
Cohen is concerned that during the war many weapons used during the war could find their way from the fighting within the territory of the Gaza Strip and the surrounding area into the hands of Criminals or terrorists in Israel. Such weapons sells for tens and hundreds of thousands of shekels.
