An Iranian security analyst identified with the “resistance axis” has publicly acknowledged a total defeat in Iran’s recent 12-day confrontation with Israel, a statement now gaining wide traction inside Iran.
Ali Abbadi, described in Iranian media as a senior security commentator and an expert on the so-called “resistance,” said bluntly that Iran was “completely defeated” in the 12-day war with Israel.
His remarks are spreading rapidly across Iranian social media platforms and have drawn significant support from users, including on channels known to back the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Until now, the Iranian regime has worked aggressively to project an image of victory or, at minimum, strategic resilience against Israel. Public discussion of defeat has been almost entirely absent from official discourse and regime-aligned media. Abbadi’s statement therefore marks a rare and striking break from the approved narrative, especially given the positive engagement it is receiving from Iranian users.
