A new Homeland Security report reveals sweeping communication, planning and security failures ahead of the 2024 assassination attempt against Donald Trump.
The US Secret Service missed 102 radio messages concerning a suspicious individual before the attempted assassination of President Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, according to a newly released Department of Homeland Security report.
The report, issued by the department’s inspector general, describes serious failures in communication, intelligence sharing, security planning and coordination with local law enforcement before the July 13, 2024 rally.
Local officers operating from a separate communications room transmitted 102 radio reports as the search for the suspicious man intensified. However, Secret Service personnel reportedly received only five telephone calls and three text messages concerning the suspect, Thomas Crooks.
