US opening strike on Iran may hinge on the “Wild Weasel”

Specialized suppression aircraft and advanced electronic warfare systems could determine whether American forces gain rapid air superiority in any confrontation with Iran.

The term “Wild Weasel” refers to aircraft assigned to Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses (SEAD) missions — among the most dangerous roles in modern air warfare.

WHAT DOES A “WILD WEASEL” DO?

The mission is deliberately high-risk. The aircraft effectively acts as bait, entering the detection range of enemy radar systems to force them to activate.
