Going all the way back to the 1982 invasion of Lebanon, the IDF and various terror organizations have battled over the strategic high point of Beaufort Castle—hopefully this time being the last.

The Beaufort - French for "beautiful fortress" - is one of the most heavily charged locations in the history of Israel's presence in Lebanon.

Built over 900 years ago, it dominates the strategic landscape all the way to the Litani River and Nabatieh, serving as a launchpad for threats against northern Israel for decades.
