Whoever thought that Turkish President Erdogan is acting out of a desire to reconcile with the countries of the region (Israel, Saudi Arabia) then apparently this does not include the traditional rivals - Cyprus and Greece.
Today these two countries accused Turkey of reigniting the tensions after Ankara announced its intention to send a drilling ship to the Mediterranean Sea next week in search of natural gas.
Relations between Athens and Ankara are strained over a series of issues, including maritime borders and drilling rights. Turkey has announced that it will send the drilling ship, Abdelhamid Khan, while Greece and Cyprus claim that this is a provocation although they prefer to keep a "low tone" at this point.
