A new survey by Patriot Polling, released yesterday, concluded that the majority of Greenlanders support joining the US.
EPOCH MAGAZINE STAFF -- According to the survey results, 57.3% of respondents expressed support for the idea of Greenland becoming part of the US, while 37.4% opposed the move, and an additional 5.3% indicated that they had not yet formed a position on the issue.
However, the survey was based on a relatively small sample of only 416 respondents, which could undermine its credibility as a true measure of public opinion. According to FiveThirtyEight, Knight Silver’s polling analysis website, the polling firm Patriot Polling has a rating of just one out of three stars, raising doubts about the quality of the data.
At a press conference in Copenhagen on Friday, Greenland’s Prime Minister, Motsi Agde, said he was “ready” to talk to US President-elect Donald Trump, who has recently expressed ambitions to buy Greenland, the world’s largest island.
Mike Walz, Trump’s pick for national security adviser, made it clear in an interview with Fox News that the US is interested in Greenland for reasons related to minerals or vital natural resources, for which the US competes in the Arctic with China and Russia.
