Deputy Superintendent Oded Sharabi, who served as head of the regime section and practices responsible for police discipline, is expected to face disciplinary action in the police court after allegedly sexually harassing a police officer. In August 2020, the officer filed a complaint against Sharabi and told investigators that he photographed her intimate organs without her knowledge and consent while they were on a single vacation in Eilat and then distributed the photos to his fellow police officers. Sharabi's interrogation in the IA, which lasted several hours and during which his cellphone was confiscated, Sharabi denied what was attributed to him. He claimed that he did not photograph the officer for sexual motives and that this was a misunderstanding. The police initially tried to deny that Sharabi was suspected of photographing the officer. Still, a senior law enforcement official confirmed that IA was investigating the photo’s subject. In light of the suspicions and the investigation, the police decided to remove Sen. Sharabi from office until the doubts are clarified. IA chose to close the case and transfer it to a disciplinary channel in the police court. In addition to the officer's complaint, other police officers gave evidence against Sharabi’s sexual harassment and abuse at work. Specifications obtained by Walla! Show that after the officer learned that Sharabi had photographed her and allegedly distributed her photo without her knowledge and consent, the officer turned to the competent police authorities, who referred her to file a complaint IA. The Israel Police stated: "The criminal case against the officer has been closed. The court will decide on an indictment in a disciplinary proceeding in the coming days."
