The Jordanian army intercepted a drone coming from Syria that was carrying explosives.
A Jordanian military expert said the drone may have been a test for the Jordanian army, or may have been sent to certain people to carry out terrorist acts.
The expert believes that Jordan's announcement about the confiscation of explosives that were on the drone is a "coded message" to the regional powers that the border problem with Syria is "developing into a serious security threat to the kingdom".
A Jordanian military expert described his country's latest announcement about the downing of a drone that came from Syria carrying explosives as an "encrypted message" sent by Amman to the regional powers, and stated that the border problem with Syria has become a "serious security threat" to the kingdom.
The newspaper "The National (UAE)" quoted the Jordanian military analyst, Saud al-Shorfat, who said that the drone, which carried the explosive material (TNT), could be a test "to see if the Jordanian armed forces will be able to intercept it, or maybe it will be sent" to people certain to carry out acts of terrorism and undermine Jordanian internal security."
Sharfat adds, "Unlike the other countries of the Levant, which are chaotic, obtaining explosives in Jordan is difficult, even for legitimate use, as is the case in rock quarries."
The expert, who heads the Sharfat Center for the Study of Globalization and Terrorism, believes that Amman's statement on the seizure of explosives is a "coded message" to the regional powers according to which the border problem with Syria is "developing into a serious security threat to the kingdom".
