IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir delivered a forceful assessment of Israel’s military achievements and future objectives during a field tour in the southern Gaza Strip, outlining what he described as a historic turning point in Israel’s security posture.
According to Zamir, 2025 marked unprecedented achievements for the IDF, led by a severe blow to Hamas, the destruction of all its frontline units, the removal of the threat Israel experienced on October 7, and the return of all living hostages to their homes. He stressed that 2026 will be a decisive year in shaping Israel’s long-term security reality.
“The IDF’s determination to completely disarm Hamas is absolute,” Zamir said. “We will not allow the Hamas terrorist organization to rebuild its capabilities or threaten us again.”
He added that Israeli forces are now positioned along what he described as a new security boundary, controlling dominant terrain inside the Gaza Strip. “We are on the yellow line, holding the controlling areas of Gaza — this is a new security border,” he stated.
