Israel tracked phones of Iranian officials’ bodyguards – enabling targeted strikes
The New York Times reported that Israel managed to track the cellphones of bodyguards protecting senior Iranian officials, even though those officials themselves avoided carrying such devices as a security precaution. This allowed Israel to pinpoint their locations and strike them directly.
One of the most notable cases was on the fourth day of the war, when Israel bombed a meeting of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council in Tehran. That strike was, in fact, an attempt to assassinate Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian – an operation that shocked Iran’s leadership and highlighted the depth of Israeli intelligence penetration.
