A Michigan-based Shiite Islamic scholar, Haider Qazwini, delivered a lecture on March 7, 2026, at the Al Zahra Islamic Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, in which he claimed that the United States is not governed by its president but by “someone sitting in Tel Aviv” who makes the real decisions.
During the lecture, Qazwini further alleged that this individual has access to all American national archives and controls every classified document.
He concluded with a prayer asking Allah to support Shiites globally and to guide acts of violence and revenge against what he referred to as “criminal Zionists,” explicitly mentioning regions including Iran, Lebanon, Iraq, and Yemen.
