During a Friday sermon on January 23, 2026, Imam Abdul Malik of the Dar Al Farooq Center in Bloomington, Minnesota, told congregants that Muslims in the US are entering a moment of historic opportunity and power, openly embracing the idea that they will replace Americans in positions of privilege.
Speaking at the Dar Al Farooq Center, Abdul Malik said that as many Americans in Minnesota now stand publicly in support of Muslims, this is the time for Muslims to share what he described as the “light, beauty, and majesty of Islam” with the broader society.
He argued that demographic and political changes are already reshaping the country and claimed that opponents of Islam are increasingly fearful as a result.
As an example, Abdul Malik pointed to New York City, referring to it as the “home of 9/11,” and noted that it now has a Muslim mayor, presenting this as evidence of Islam’s growing influence in America. He said that “privileged Americans” are watching the growth of the Muslim community and are scared that Muslims are about to “replace” them in positions of power.
